When the mind is trained with the aim of keeping it stable for some time at some place inside or outside the body, then it gets the power to flow in that direction at an uninterrupted speed. The name of this state is Meditation. In the 30 sutra of the third chapter of 'Sankhya Pravachana Sutra it is said Ragopahatirdhyanam' Le the destruction of attachment is called Meditation. Explaining the benefits of Meditation, it is said in the 29 sutra-Bhavanopachayat Shuddhasya Sarvam Prakritivat', that is, with the power of serious Meditation, all the powers of nature come to a pure person. Regarding the success of Meditation, it is said in the 31" sutra Vrittinirodhat Tatsiddhih', that is, the success of Meditation is achieved by stopping all the tendencies.
