In Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball (the 14th book in the series), Greg Heffley's family receives an unexpected inheritance and decides to use the money to make renovations to their house. As with most of Greg's plans, things quickly spiral out of control. The Heffleys hire a construction crew to expand their home, but the renovation leads to chaos, with everything from plumbing issues to a literal wrecking ball being involved.

Throughout the story, Greg has to deal with the stress of the construction process, the mess it creates, and the possibility of having to move to a new house altogether. As always, Greg’s humorous misadventures and his observations about family life and growing up are at the heart of the book. It's filled with the same classic humor and illustrations that fans of the series have come to love.
