In Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot (2021), the 16th book in Jeff Kinney’s popular series, Greg Heffley is back and dealing with middle school life, but this time through the lens of sports. After having bad experiences in different sports activities, Greg feels disillusioned with athletics. However, his mom encourages him to try out for basketball, and despite his lack of enthusiasm and skill, he ends up on a team. The book chronicles Greg's hilarious misadventures as he navigates the pressure of competition, the challenges of teamwork, and his struggles with self-confidence.

As always, Greg’s observations are filled with humor and sarcasm, making his journey both relatable and entertaining, especially for those who might not excel in sports either. The book continues the familiar mix of comic-strip-style illustrations and narrative text that fans of the series love.
