Days before his release from prison, a man named Shadow Moon learns that his wife has died in a tragic car crash. Lost and broke, he takes a job as a bodyguard for a mysterious con man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday. Shadow is quickly pulled into a bizarre, dangerous road trip across the heart of America. He discovers that Mr. Wednesday is actually an ancient Norse god gathering power for an epic war against the modern deities of technology, media, and finance.
