In James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, the peach is depicted as an enormous, magical fruit. Initially, it starts as a normal peach growing on an old, withered tree. However, after some magical crystals spill on the ground near it, the peach begins to grow until it reaches the size of a small house. The peach has a golden-orange color and its surface is smooth, soft, and glowing.

James eventually crawls inside the peach through a tunnel in its side and finds a cozy and somewhat fantastical interior. It's filled with oversized, magical creatures like a friendly Grasshopper, a Spider, a Centipede, and others, who all reside within the peach’s hollow core.

The peach becomes the vehicle for James and his insect companions' journey, rolling down hills and crossing oceans. The image of the peach is both whimsical and enormous, symbolizing adventure, imagination, and escape for James from his cruel aunts.
