From Space to Sea by Abraham E Muthunayagam (Grade - C)
From Space to Sea is the memoir of Dr Abraham E. Muthunayagam, one of the important engineers involved in the formative years of India's space programme. It tells the story of his professional journey from the early days of INCOSPAR and ISRO to his later work in India's Department of Ocean Development.
Muthunayagam joined INCOSPAR, the predecessor of ISRO, in 1966 and became deeply involved in the development of India's rocket-propulsion technology. He was the founding director of ISRO's Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) and played a major role in developing the Vikas engine, a propulsion system that became important to several Indian launch vehicles.
The book provides a first-person account of the early Indian space programme, including its technological challenges, international collaborations, institutional development and the personalities involved in building India's space capabilities. It is therefore both a personal memoir and a history of an important period in Indian science and engineering.
